Shall we do a cancan dictionnary?

Hi everyone!

 

I am thinking if we shall codificate a cancan dictionary, including most of the cancan dance moves, you know those French words used to describe cancan moves are tricky.

Anyone have dreams?

Has anybody had really vivid dreams with regards to our favorite dance?  I had one several months ago that I can't get off my mind because it was so vivid.  If anyone wants to hear mine and/or tell me about any they've had themselves, let me know right here.

New (to me anyway) Search Engine

The Guardian of today carries an advert entitled "Does the world need another search engine?".  This addition can be found at www.Live.com and has several interesting features.  Searching for cancan images brought up over 12000 hits (although I could only access the first 960).  You can determine how many images you want displayed on a page using a slider bar at the top.  Moving your cursor over an image opens up a larger version with both image and main site links displayed. There is a scatchboard facility that allows you to drag your chosen images to an area to the right of the display window as you go along for examining/saving later.  Many of the usual images are there but there were ones that I had not seen including a couple linking to a collection of images supposedly from La Belle Epoque.  Anyway, have a look for yourself and I am sure that the likes of Barbebleu will discover much more than my cursory (no pun intended) inspection.

The Cancan in the News and in the Blogs

I thought I would set up a message board for news stories and blog articles about the cancan.  Google has an "alerts" feature that sends an email with recent apperances of a search term in news articles and on blogs.  I'm subscribed for "cancan" and "can-can". Let me add my welcome also.  It's great to see so many of our old colleagues joining up.  And we welcome new members too.

 

Please don't be bashful.  We'd like to hear from you.  If you'd like to discuss a topic, start a discussion thread.  If you have a link to share, please post a message with it.  If you are an aspiring author or have an interesting anecdote, please add it.  If you have suggestions for the site or would like to add a feature or see one added, please tell us on the Site Design message board.

 

As Perry has said, we do want to avoid some issues that came up at CCD.  So we have set up a RULES page, which you can acess from the main menu to the left.  Please take time to read them and please abide by them  We want the group to be enjoyable for everyone, and we think that they will help us achieve that and not lose members.
