Frou Frou del Tabarin

If you would be offended by a bare bottomed cancan dancer, then don't watch this clip. Otherwise enjoy a real treat.

This clip edits the original film to condense the cancan-related parts into a long single clip. Unfortunately, the film is slightly elongated vertically, but that doesn't detract too much. The story of the film is best summarized by Max, who posted this in 2013 at Cancan Favorites based on a question about the identity of an earlier, unidentified, lower resolution YouTube clip:

"Hi Barbebleu !

This is an Italian movie whose title is "Frou Frou del Tabarin" (1976). I watched this movie once in my life and there are no DVD of it.

Shortly, a dancer forgot to wear her knickers and during the performance the whole audience could appreciate her "hidden virtues". After that, she became the star of the show.

Regards.

Max"

The director must have been a cancan and royal flash fan judging from way it was filmed and the duration of the dancing. Bravo!

The sans culottes dancer is Martine Brochard who had a long career in films, television and the stage in Italy. As made up for this film, she bears a more than passing resemblance to Francesca Annis.

Moulin Rouge - French Film 1939-40

I came across this Italian publicity photo for a film called, "E arrivata la Fortuna", which upon investigation turns out to be a French film from 1939-40 called, of all things, "Moulin Rouge".

I wasn't aware of it previously. I can't find any more photos or video clips from it. The above posters are from:

Can Can Cabaret Students perform "Mein Herr"

The students of Bombshell Burlesque & Beauty Academy do an interesting take on this well known musical number from "Cabaret":

"Mein Herr performed by The Bombshell Burlesque and Beauty Academy's Can Can Cabaret Students at The Bombshells Ball on 26th April 2014, Brisbane Australia."

Münchner Kindl Show

Münchner Kindl Show takes traditional Bavarian dance and adapts it for a nice show. I had the pleasure of seeing them perform in the US some years ago.

Dirndldrahn - Get Your Dramamine

The cancan may be an import to Germany, but there are home-grown dances that involve some knickers-revealing spinning that most cancan dancers would find challenging, especially after a stein of bier or three. As can be seen modesty is well preserved by the white pantalets, but see tomorrow's post for a "modernized" Bavarian troupe who wear short ruffled panties.

This is a long post with some photos and videos and links to both. See the videos for the full effect.

Enjoy this collection of videos for what it is - and be patient or skip ahead when viewing them. There is generally some sedate dancing to start these off before the spinning starts, and the spinning is repeated later.

Patriciabaletten

Patriciabaletten is a student dance troupe associated with Gothenburg University and its student orchestra,Tongångarne. They have had the good judgment to kit themselves out with stockings and garter belts thereby enhancing the appeal of their perfomance.

Chalmersbaletten is a dance troupe associated with the Chalmers University of Technology of Gothenburg, Sweden, mixing dance with Castigliano's Theorem. Boules, anyone?

Okay, they're not cancan images, but is anyone complaining about such perfect royal flashes? These "Fannies" must have made the opposition flub a shot or 13. I wonder how.

See the full-sized originals at:

The artists are not identified.

Apparently kissing Fanny is a long standing French tradition in the game of boules (or petanque) when the defeated team loses 13-0:

British Pathé - Color Films

Two enjoyable color films from British Pathé. These complement the black and white films posted at Classic Cancan:

Karneval - IGBiF 1990

IGBiF is the acronym for InteressenGemeinschaft Bieberer Fassenacht (Community of interest Bieberer Fassenacht)

"The IGBiF enriches the Fassenacht in Bieber since 1981 with their meetings in Catholic parish hall and all manner of social and social activities." A good Bieber?
