The Witches of Paris - MSC Divina - Part 1

A double feature.  The show is "The Witches of Paris" performed on the MSC Divina.  This continues a fine tradition of very good cancan performances on the ships of the MSC cruise line.  See the prior post linked below for more examples.

Thanks go to Brandon Shapitka who did the video - right place, right time, steady hand.

Violet of Montmartre

The operetta, "Das Veilchen vom Montmartre" (Violet of Montmartre) by Emmerich Kálmán sometimes, but not always, includes a cancan.  Not often performed in the US at least, it seems to be the most popular in Russia where the translated title is "Фиалка Монмартра".  Naturally, that results in a lot of split skirt versions.  The musical number that includes the cancan is "Carambolina".

Karneval Follies

Bless the amateurs.  If they wear the right costumes and wave their skirts well, they really don't need to be trained dancers or acrobats to make the performance interesting.  A flash would not have gone amiss though.

Prag'da Çek Gecesi: Kankan Dansı

A nice video of Czech dancers taken by ČeskoTurecko / ÇekTürk, which I take to be a Czech/Turkish person.  The dancers are not identified.  The costumes resmble those of La Quadrilla, but I don't think it is them.
