Nadege Maruta Film Festival

These videos are of various cancan performances choreographed by Nadege Maruta, the French dancer, chorographer and author, who has been featured several times before (see the links below).

Nadège Maruta

Nadège Maruta is an accomplished cancaneuse, choreographer and
author, whose work includes some favorites, including the performance
recently posted by TT at message 966 at Cancan Favorites, our sister Yahoo group.

Here is a collection of short but sweet clips posted by Ms. Maruta
herself at You Tube:

http://www.youtube.com/user/MadameCancan#g/u

Her Facebook page is:

http://www.facebook.com/madamecancan

A brief biography appeared in an article about a cancan revue at the
Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin:

http://www.monstersandcritics.com/lifestyle/travel/features/article_1348\
556.php/Wildness_of_the_Cancan_is_thrust_onto_21st_century_Berlin

Don't overlook this link to her book with an enlargeable photo of the
great cover photo:

Barbebleu

Who's That Cancan Girl?

So you might recall that, when the New Year was but two days old (i.e. January 2nd), our fair host Barbeblue posted the seventeenth installment of his Iconosquare Collection of cancan pics on Instagram:

http://clubccd.blogspot.com/2015/01/iconosquare-collection-xvii.html

Don't know about the rest of you, but the second-to-last picture - of a redheaded cancaneuse executing a picture-perfect port d'armes - definitely got Le Flatline's attention:

I believe the appropriate response is "Yowzah." ;)

Having said that, I promptly thought: Are there any other pix of this supple ginger to be had?  And then proceeded to grind through several months of "cancan"-tagged Iconosquare images...and not only found the original, from the Instagram account of one "lizayw", but also this pic:

Okay, so far, so good.

Now the serendipity rears its not-so-ugly head.  Over on Facebook, dancer/choreographer Nadège Maruta has been busy plugging her French-language history of Our Favorite Dance, "L'Incroyable Histoire du Cancan" with print reviews, book signings, and live dance demonstrations - which, by a funny coincidence, can be seen right here - and...

Well, whattaya know?  Our redheaded high-kicker is also apparently a member of Mlle. Maruta's troupe!

I think it's safe to say that Nadège has good taste in dancers, no?

Oh, and for more info and pictures of Mlle. Maruta and company, don't neglect to visit http://www.nadegemaruta.com/.

Nadège Maruta

This is a photo of Nadège Maruta, the well known cancaneuse, choreographer, historian, lecturer and author.  Her site is a trove of excellent cancan photos, many by Patrice Bouvier.  You should pay it a visit at:

http://lescanonsducancan.fr/

Among my favorite photos at the site is one I, not too originally, call, "worshiping at the cathedral" :

http://lescanonsducancan.fr/en/pictures-menu/image.raw?type=orig&id=92

A description of her book, "Follement Cancan," with a great cover photo, can be seen at:

L’INCROYABLE HISTOIRE DU CANCAN - Page Samples and Video

Choreographer Nadège Maruta's new (French-language) history of Our Favorite Dance now has a promotional page:

http://www.parigramme.com/livre-lincroyable-histoire-du-cancan-383.htm

If you click on the thumbnail below the cover illustration, you'll get a slideshow of sample pages from the book - including the above illustration, as members of her troupe demonstrate some of the cancan's trademark (and not-so-trademark!) moves.

The entire slideshow gallery can be accessed here:

http://www.parigramme.com/datas/Double%20page/l/i/lincroyable-histoire-du-cancan/xl/

Even better is the following video, apparently from a promotional event:

(The 720p version is viewable on YouTube.)
