The Cancan is alive and well in British Columbia

Rawhide - Incident in the Middle of Nowhere

I came across a nice find quite by accident. One of the local stations
was showing syndicated reruns of the late 1950's - early 1960's TV
western, Rawhide. The episode to see is entitled, "Incident in the
Middle of Nowhere". The cancan is at the very end and is a gem for the
time period and venue (network TV). The perfromance is fairly long and
nicely danced, with several royal flashes, including one that knocks an
unbelievably young Clint Eastwood off a log and onto his keister. If
you get a chance to see it, set your recorder. It also looks as if
Rawhide DVDs can be found on EBay. See the recap below for Season and

La Quadrilla

A very nice performance by one of the well-established Czech dance groups, La Quadrilla of Brno. They were one of the first Czech groups I encountered on the Web who performed the cancan.

Can-Can Kieselsteine - Orpheus in der Unterwelt

I've always liked this group's costumes, which resemble the those of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Dancers. But the effect is really enhanced by the red ruffled panties and stockings.

I really like the way the dancers spin in sequence to flash their panties and then reverse the move. A very arresting sight.

La Vie Parisienne Photos
