Cancan Convention 2

 

Ok obviously not.

Id recod about five years ago that to do a cancan convention ,to link in with a curent burlesque event.

The London burlesk fest has just finished.

There will be another one most prob next year.

Dave Elton woyuld be advised to hook into that.

He has a ready made troupe at his beck and call as well as plenty of merch.

 

The New York Burlesk festival is on in Aug.

Submissions finish June 15.

Prob a bit late but thats the way to do it.

Pitch your love of this dance as legit theatre, which it is.

If its sold seperately, the world will not understand it.

It will simply come across as a frottage and fetish piece for only the true believers.

 

Not the way to spread the word.

Practice What You Preach

As a counterpoint to Dave Elton's excellent video of Susanna's performance for the camera linked by mythology000, there is an amusing couplet of videos on You Tube of a belly dance instructor gamely giving a "how to" lesson on performing the cancan, followed by a video in which she puts her advice into action. 

Not the world's best cancan by any stretch of the imagination, and the petticoat is a distraction, but she garners points for her efforts in promoting our favorite dance and extra marks for the stockings, for the royal flashes and mostly for the earnest enthusiasm she brings to her backyard project.

Oh La La - Candice

This is Candice, from Dave Elton's Oh La La site, in a playfully improvised cancan performance.  Really exceptional!
