Maine State Ballet - Can-Can Parisian

The Maine State Ballet is presenting performances of "Can-Can Parisian" and "Raymonda" now through August 20th. It's yet another variation of Massine's "Gaite Parisienne" (as was Anthony Tudor's "Offenbach in the Underworld"), but based on these clips, the "corps de cancaneuses" are clearly having a lot of fun.

First, the Pelletier sisters (who play the Flower Girl and the Glove Seller) give a quickie summation of the plot:

Then a quick compilation of the climactic cancan itself:

The Old Drunk Cancan Girls Routine

But they recover their senses pretty well. The troupe is from the ECOLE DE DANSE FRANÇOISE DE HARO.

Le Paradis des Sources

Short but very sweet.

The video is labelled Paradis des Sources, a music hall in Alsace that it well known for its revues. In tongue-in-cheek recognition of their Alsatian heritage the cancan dancers usually sport stylized regional headresses as can be seen in some of the photos and at the prior posts below. They seem to have dispensed with them in the video, and the rest of their costumes are a little different too. I guess they have two different performances..

Member Album

I've set up an Album at Google+ for Members to upload photos they like and think would be of interest to other Members. Supposedly, anyone with the link can contribute to the Album.

However, when I tried it, I had to log in to Google (I used a different identity), and I had to join the Album. Then, I clicked on the small icon at the top with a plus sign over some stylized mountains, and clicked on "Select from Computer". From there I could select a photo and upload it.

We'll have to see how that actually works in practice. I hope someone will give it a try.

Usual rules apply - no kids, no porn, nothing demeaning, etc.

Канкан

Not bad for a Russian split skirt routine. Cancan at 3:10, but the Russsian Navy isn't half bad either. I've seen photos of the troupe before, but can't recall the name. If I remember or can find the photo, I'll supplememt this. (Got the photo, but not the name - see above)

Re-Action

Шоу балет "ACTION" of Kaliningrad, Russia, has some spectacular photos of their cancan routine, a number of which have already been posted here - see the links below.

A video has surfaced that gives a taste of their performance. The photos above, although not as eye-catching as the ones previously posted, will supplement the prior posts. The top photo is a repeat to get your attention.

test - need some feedback

Will this link work for you?

https://get.google.com/albumarchive/104846132216450819098?authKey=CMzI3tqs8_LKcQ

Google migrated their Picasaweb albums, where most of the group's photos are stored, to Google+. I am trying to figure out how to operate under it.

The above link leads to all the photos, but it may work only for me since I am logged in.

黃瀞儀林園獅子會表演康康舞

The Google translation is Huang Ching Lin Yuan Lions. The dancers appear to have been performing at a Lion's Club event, so the name of the troupe is probably not shown. The troupe seems to perform regularly, as evidenced by the videos linked below.

Les Fifi Danseuses

The long-running English dance troupe, previously known as Les Fifis Farfelues and The Suffolk Cancan Girls (of "Sisters Under the Skin" fame) and renowned as much for their superb costumes as for their spirited dancing, have quietly been setting down stakes on the social networks as of late.

(Plenty more photos and videos where these came from!)

In their own words, "We're a small group of young girls performing one of the most exciting, entertaining and teasing dances around: the CanCan."
