Retro Kabaret

This video is of a Czech cancan troupe named Retro Kabaret.  It is managed by the Berounsti Mestane (Burgers of Beroun) agency.  They sport some near classic uniforms with a little added spice.  The video is on You Tube where a 720p version is available:

FYI - If you are having trouble logging in

I notice that a number of the members (authors) are shown as having joined under gmail ID's.

When I signed up under my barbebleu2012 identity, for reasons unknown to me, it switched my ID to a gmail ID - the same name (barbebleu2012), but with a gmail.com suffix instead of a yahoo.com suffix.
I couldn't log in using the yahoo ID, and I didn't know that the switch had been made. it took me several days to figure out what had happened.

If you are not able to log in from the non-gmail ID you thought you signed up under, then try to do so using a gmail ID - your same email name, but followed by gmail.com.

I hope this helps.

Too much ballet; not enough cancan

Too much ballet; not enough cancan.  That's my verdict on the recent staging of "Can Can" by the Maine State Ballet. I make that judgment solely from the photos taken by C.C Church of several performances of the ballet and posted at SmugMug. (I assume the extensive photographic evidence is representative of the performances.)  Make no mistake, the photography of the event is excellent - absolutely first rate. There are some really fine performance photos here. The photo displayed above is perhaps the best of the lot from a cancan standpoint. Others are sharper.  The photos are for sale.

http://mainestateballet.smugmug.com/CanCan2012     (To see the photos without the watermark, hover your cursor at the right side of the displayed photo and then click on "Original" in the pop up menu.)

For a ballet production entitled "Can Can", you'd expect a lot more of the dance as it is customarily danced. Instead what you have is a troupe of very pretty girls swishing their skirts below waist level and doing jetes and other ballet steps rather than those associated with the cancan. Charming, but not the cancan.

The site is definitely worth a look, but think what might have been. Some poor choreographic choices turned what could have been a really fine cancan performance into just another ballet.

Superstorm

I hope all those in  the path of the storm, including Le Flatline and our other New York and New Jersey members, come through the storm safely and without too much damage.   Best of luck,  Barbebleu

Do you like colorful costumes?

Then this should be just the thing.  The Saloon girls of Movie World, an Australian theme park, put on a show.  The resolution of the original is excellent (1080p), the lighting is also, and the dancers are energetic, all making for a very fine video.

See the origninal posted by Simon Soh at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zahYvmYCPBw

How It Should have Been

If the costumer designer for the film, "Can-Can" had only followed the lead of this poster artist, think how much better the movie would have been.   Shame.

If you haven't received an invitation ...

I have sent an invitation to everyone who has requested one.  If you haven't received one, you might want to look at your spam folder.  One I sent to my own hotmail address ended up there.  There should be a message from Club CCD with the address line, "You have been invited to contribute to Club CCD."  You have to click on a link in that message and sign in to Google.  As soon as you do that, you will be taken to your Blogger home page that lists the blogs of which you are a member (author).

If you didn't receive an invitation pursuant to your request at all, or if you want to request one for the first time, let me know and I will send one.   You can email me at my Yahoo email address, barbebleu2006.

Welcome Message

Welcome to the new Club CCD Group at Blogger/Blogspot. This is a continuation of the Multiply group of the same name. That site is going dark on December 1 due to a decision by Multiply to discontinue its blogs and groups.

We encourage everyone who was a member of the Multiply Club CCD to become a member (Author) here too, so that you can fully participate in the site.

The Group is set up as a public group. That means anyone can see it by typing in the URL. However, to post or comment you need to be added as an Author. That has to be done by invitation, and there isn't a feature on the Blog for you to ask to be added as a Author. Unfortunately, Multiply doesn't seem to allow mass mailings of invitations to members of the old group and doesn't give email addresses from which the invitations can be generated. However, if you are a member of Cancan Favorites or one of the other Yahoo cancan groups (and if you did not hide your email address there), you will receive an invitation. Otherwise, to join the new group and post, you will need to send an email to Barbebleu's email address at Yahoo (barbebleu2006). You will then receive an invitation by email (check your spam/junk folder if you dodn't see it your inblox).  Follow the instructions in the invitation to join. You will have to register with Google (which owns Blogger) to do so, but many of you are probably already registered with them.

We have tried to preserve the features of the Multiply group, but the format is very different. The main page is a blog with consecutive entries. The blog posts can have photos or videos in them, but that would not be convenient from the standpoint of accessing all the photos, videos or other features. To accommodate that we have set up the Pages listed on the right hand side of the Blog. Clicking on the links for them will take you to pages for the subjects listed.

Only administrators will be able to edit or add to those pages and the related albums, but we will try to copy over to the albums the photos and videos that are posted in messages.

We are still learning about Blogger and tweaking the site, so there will likely be some changes. For example, there has not been sufficient time to copy over the descriptions of the pictures. Also, we used the migration tool that Multiply provided. Most of the postings appear to have come over alright, but it is possible that some of them did not make it here. The first priority will be to get the Cancan Classics site set up also. Then we will try to do some cleanup here.

We'll look forward to your participation.

Down East

It might as well be on Mars as far as I am concerned, but, if you live in New England, you might consider the performance of "Can Can" being staged as a ballet by the Maine State Ballet.  Performances are Oct. 6, 12 and 13.

See their Facebook page for details and some photos:

A wall posting indicates they may post more photos and videos, so there may be something for those of us who can't attend.

Notice re my personal Multiply site

If you have been a visitor at my personal Multiply site (http://barbebleu0000.multiply.com/) or are interested in it, this is to let you know that I have moved it to Tumblr (www.barbebleu.tumblr.com) in anticipation of the shut down of the Multiply groups and personal blogs at December 1.  You are welcome to visit there.  You don't have to join Tumblr to see it, but joining is quite easy.  I am making new postings there rather than at my Multiply site.

Also, Le Flatline has a Tumblr page too: www.hellyeahcancangirls.tumblr.com which you may want to visit.

I am still trying to decide what is the best place to move this and the other Multiply groups.  Suggestions are welcome.

Best regards,  Barbebleu
