The Pullman City Dancers from Germany

They put on quite a show, as you can see. This clip is one originally posted by liedi1951 at You Tube:

A Really Remarkable True Story

We are seeing a lot of World War II stories on television these days
since sadly that generation is passing. The Holocaust is a terrible part
of that era. It is memorialized in Washington, DC by the United States
Holocaust Memorial Museum.

One would never expect to find anything as trivial as the cancan
referenced there, but I came across the true story of Sadie Rigal, a
Jewish entertainer who was a cancan dancer at the Bal Tabarin during the
Nazi occupation. She became a member of the Resistance and heroically
and at great personal risk hid and smuggled other Jewish people to
safety throughout the war. Her remarkable story and a dazzling photo can
be seen at the Museum's website, which includes photos of a number of
Jewish entertainers of the period:

Look at photo #48 and read her story there.

Aurelie Prandini's cancan solo at La Nouvelle Eve - part 2 (Corrected)

A very fine solo cancan peformance by Aurelie Prandini, a featured dancer at La Nouvelle Eve. Miss Prandini has posted a number of very nice still photos at the La Nouvelle Eve Facebook page, which you should visit:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&viewas=0&gid=9709592199

I regret that they have changed the costumes to dispense with the stockings and garter belts. You can see how much better things were before by looking at the older pictures, for example:

Jolie Artists - Can Can

A nicely filmed cancan performed by the dancers of Jolie Artists of Romania. Those who favor black bikinis will like this one.

See the Jolie Artists website at:

http://www.jolieartists.com/Jolie_Artists_EN.html

The original video can be seen at:

For those who like handstands

Some very pretty girls make the best of a very small stage:

They are the Von Gouldies Dancers appearing as a part of the Red Moon
Cabaret. The group is based in Sonoma, California.

The Red Moon Website is:

They also have a My Space site with one cancan photo:

Marika Oszvald in her prime

Do you remember the video posted some time ago featuring Marika Oszvald
in an Hungarian production of The Merry Widow? She was the somewhat
older, stocky, but very energetic Valencienne with the long black and
red striped bloomers who played it for the laughs. Here's the link to
refresh your memory:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As4xzzrjCVc&feature=related

Here's version featuring an even more energetic, svelter and very
attractive Ms. Oszvald in her prime. She makes her appearance at 3:20:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrdsqPtJnRg

One can quibble a little about the costumes, but this is quite an
athletic and acrobatic cancan performance for the Valencienne character
by any standards. It's a shame the quality of the video, which dates
from 1984, isn't any better.

Star West Trutnov - Four Course Cancan

By Star West of Trutnov, Czech Republic

This is a nice treat featuring four separate performances by the dancers of Star West in different costumes for each set.

The original was posted at You Tube by ladia07 an can be viewed at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_uF1tfW07U

The text reads, " Vystoupeni Kankanove skupiny Starwest po 20letech 24.10.2008 Narodni Dum Trutnov."

Star West has several other cancan videos, and videos of other dances too, at You Tube. See their channel at:

http://www.youtube.com/user/starwestcz

While their latest video, "Kankan 2010", which was just posted, features some nice new costumes, they appear to have succumbed to the dreaded black panty syndrome.

Star West's site, which feaures a nice fotogalerie, is:

Vidéo Vive Offenbach ! - Culturebox.rv

Here's a cancan video featuring a military orchestra from Paris, France. This comes to us from the Culture Box at the France 3 web page!

Ärzteball 2010, Wien, Mitternachtseinlage

They know how to do things in the grand style in Vienna. Here are some elablorately costumed dancers doing a nice performance, impeded by a male dancer who mainly gets in the way and lowers the curtain, so to speak, just when things have gotten fun. Even the klutz move right at the outset adds some charm to this.
