Vietnamese Cancan

Photographer Yan Lerval has taken a nice set of photos of Vietnamese dancers doing a cancan performance.  A sample is:

The entire set of cancan photos can be seen by using the arrows to navigate between photos.

You can also visit the photographer's site, which has quite a large collection of very good photographs about Vietnam,  at:

Two by Alice Huertas

These are two uncommonly seen illustrations by Alice Huertas, a prolific artist who made quite a number of very nice, idealized renderings of the mid-20th Century cancan.  These are captioned, "Casino de Paris" and "Folies Bergere", and perhaps the costuming of the dancers follows what was then on offer at those two establishments.

For some additional Alice Huertas works, click on the label, "Alice Huertas", at the bottom of this post and check the Photo Albums here (look  for the Illustrations page). You may also wish to go to:

Party Planet

These are from a spectacular set of photos taken at the V.I.P. Cinema City Christmas party - program of the Prague Club Hany Bany (ex Ocko) (translation by Google). The event was put on by Party Planet. The dance troupe is not identified.  Photographs are by Ondra and the Party Planet Team - see their links at the site below.

Unless I am much mistaken, these are our old 'friends' Crash Dance:
certainly the routine looks familiar as well as the costumes. A wonderful

Antoine,

You are correct.  I checked at Crash Dance's site (http://www.crashdance.cz), and they list an event at Ocko Praha that coincides with the party in the original posting.  I had noticed the similarity in the petticoats/skirts too, but was thrown off by the underpinnings they wore on this occasion.  Their usual outfits can be seen at:

http://barbebleu.tumblr.com/search/crash+dance

I guess the explanation is that they were apparently doing a Moulin Rouge routine in bustiers, panties and stockings that required some individuality in costuming.  They must have either just put on the skirts for the cancan number or taken them off for the Moulin Rouge number, depending on the sequence.

In any event, Crash Dance is a long time favorite, and this just adds to my appreciation of them.

The France Show

The Dynamic Dancers performed at the 2013 edition of The France Show held in Earl's Court last weekend during what I understand was a major snowstorm in the UK.

I haven't seen as many photos or videos as I would have expected - perhaps the weather discouraged camera toting people from attending.  This photo is from the Dynamic Dancers web page, where you can find a few other cancan photos:

http://dynamicdancers.co.uk/our-can-can-dancers-perform-at-the-france-show-2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=our-can-can-dancers-perform-at-the-france-show-2013

There are also a few at this Flickr site:

There were two videos I found, neither of which is outstanding:

Perhaps some more things will turn up.

Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue

There have been a lot of photos and videos posted of this limited time show at Disneyland, but I thought these were two of the best videos and deserved recognition.  Both are available at You Tube in 1080p.

Also, LCCB member Lindsay Geektron Nerdson has posted a video of her visit to the ball, which is fun to watch and gives a sense of the dancers' personalities:

The Wild-West-Girls in performance at the Faschingsfrühschoppen des Faschingsclub Laim am 13.01.2013 im Hacker Pschorr Bräuhaus.  They are sporting some updated costumes that are very nice and in the classic style.

DDM Strakonice

As best I can determine, these dancers are from a Czech social club called, DDM Strakonice.  The shiny white bloomers may be of biblical proportions, but you have to admit they are also strikingly cute and make for a very pleasing performance.  The dancers also sometimes perform in plain black, and, to me at least, the contrast favors the white bloomers.  See for yourself at the following Picasa Web pages of photographer ZbynÄ›k Mařík who has created an amazing collection of photos, including those reviewed above:

Le Cancan Bijou - Dickens Fair

Note from Le Flatline:

Even though he was AWOL from Dickens this year, there's plenty of pictures from previous Fairs - not to mention his bird photography, which is quite stunning in and of itself.

La Casta Susana/La Chaste Suzanne - the Second Cancan

This is a hard to find Spanish-French film and stars Marujita Diaz, the dancer wearing a lavender costume this time.

La Casta Susana/La Chaste Suzanne - the First Cancan

A copy of the first cancan from la Casta Susana/La Chaste Suzanne has been posted at You Tube courtesy of SpanishBizarro3.  The original is at:

There is a second cancan in different costumes that is just as good.  Here's hoping it will be posted also.

This is a hard to find Spanish-French film and stars Marujita Diaz, the dancer in the green costume.

Here is a link to a second cancan film, Abuelita Charleston (Granny Charleston) featuring Ms. Diaz.  I expected Esther Williams to make an appearance:

From a Chinese Travel Site

I thought this was a nice photo.  The dancers may be French, but the costumes are a little different than those worn by the Moulin Rouge troupe, so I don't think it is them.
