Country bál - Lechotice

These dancers performed at the Country bál - Lechotice  in the Czech Republic.  The group is not identified, but my guess is that they are members of the country and western dance club that put on the dance.  The video doesn't really start until after about a minute, so you will need to be patient.

See the originals and many more photos at the rajce.idnes.cz site of Marvilka:

Innocent, Yet Naughty

Leaving the photos for a moment, I've always liked this set of French postcards which are probably intended to show 1910's or 1920's ballet dancers or showgirls rather than a cancan performance.  Innocent but mildly risque at the same time.

These are from EBay auctions:

I'm not sure who the artist was.  I don't see a signature.  Xavier Sager perhaps?

Bastille Day Revisited with Madame Gigi's

Mme. Gigi's Outrageous French Cancan Dancers performed again this year in Milwaukee. I have found two videos of their performance. The first is another very nice performance and a fine video by MsOlga0505:

The original in 1080p:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2LbtGYPIEQ

The second video is by LizRickaby and can be seen at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktAwR26eebM

My only quibble with the performance is the black tights, which I think detract from the video. Perhaps it would be too much to ask for stockings, but even flesh colored tights might be better.

Шоу-балет "ТАИС" (Show-Ballet Tais)

These dancers are from another Russian troupe that thankfully eschews the split skirts - Шоу-балет "ТАИС" (Show-Ballet Tais).  See their site at:

http://www.tais.biz/repertuar/kankan/

As the website shows, they perform in a wide variety of styles and costumes.

In addition to the cancan video at the site, there are a few more at You Tube that are either too short or too fuzzy:

Séverine Lavaux 2

Back by popular demand is Séverine Lavaux.  These photos are not of the photographic quality of the first set, but Ms. Lavaux is just as charming in them and they show her in a range of costumes:

Ms. Lavaux who describes herself as an "artiste ambulante accordéoniste musette et danseuse cabaret" has a Facebook site with many more additional photos showing her in additonal cancan and other cabaret costumes and with some performance photos:

MSC Croisieres Show

Before leaving the subject of the wagon wheel (pie segments?) style petticoats, here is a recent video of a show put on by MSC Croisieres, a cruise line.  There's too much male acrobatics going on, but it is still a nice video.  I prefer the tradional design of the petticoats, but these are striking.

The original posted by Van An Nguyen in 780p can be seen at:

Four exceptionally nice studio photos of Quebec's Séverine Lavaux.  The third one has always been a favorite.

Московский Мюзик Холл (Moscow Music Hall)

The "wagon wheel" petticoats of these dancers from Moscow Music Hall hark back to some costumes from the Paradis Latin show of around 1990.  The original video in 1080p can be seen at:

For the Short Skirts Fans (if any)

My own tastes run to dancers wearing longer skirts, but you'll have to admit that this is nice little show and, skirts aside, may have some appeal to the traditionalists:

I think the dancers are from Genoma solidário or that may be the name of the event.  The original posted by Aline Lisboa can be found at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnxHbJ2J1lk

Another routine where the skirts disappear altogether is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLht9yFyI8s

Another skimpy skirt video, posted by Carl Glassman, features an alternative Bastille Day performance in NYC sponsored by Cercle Rouge restaurant.  The dancers are not identified:

(the cancan is at 45 seconds)

Ballet M. Brass

Here's another video that will appeal to the less-is-more school of thought and the stockings fans.  It starts slowly and the filming over the lagoon is a little too artsy, but give it some time and stay tuned for the encore:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tfNO-UeaN8

Based on other YouTube offerings, I think the full name of the troupe is Ballet Miguel Brass and I think it is based in Spain.  I had hoped to find a Facebook page, website, or at least some some still photos, but no luck using "Ballet M. Brass" or "Ballet Miguel Brass".  (The photo above is a video capture.)  Perhaps the Master of the Search Engine can turn some up.
