Voila!

The end of a successful performance.  These are older photos, and i don't have the source information any longer.  My guess would be that they are of French origin, perhaps from a Skyrock blog.

A. J. Fletcher Opera Institute

The A. J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts presented a production of Orpheus in the Underworld which had a rewritten book featuring Hollywood celebrities of the golden age and which included the cancan in the photo above.   See their web page and more photos at:

Tea 'n Tease

Tea 'n Tease this year featured the French Fling dancers.  This video was shot under difficult lighting conditions and, so, is of lower resolution than some, but I liked the costumes and thought the performance was good, especial given the small stage.

See the original, posed by Burlesque and Cabaret. at:

Come Hither

To get the full benefit of this group and to be able to post and comment, you need to be a member (called "author" in blogspeak).  I'd encourage you to join.  It is relatively easy to do so, but the way Blogger/Blogspot is set up, it requires an invitation.  To receive one, look at the link in the right column of this page entitled, "About this Group - How to Join".

The come hither girls are from the Show Performance Company of the UK:

Fernsehballett - Can Can

A spectacular cancan from German television performed by the Fernsehballett company.  The male dancers get in the way as usual, but not to such an extent that the performance is spoiled.  The dancing is top notch, and the performance is well worth watching.

The original of this, posted by DerBellato, can be seen at:

DerBellato has posted a number of other Fernsehballet excerpts, including more cancans.  See them at:

Rétromobile 2013

It is a shame there are not more photos of these very attractive dancers at this event - an auction of classic autos - especially given the classic style costuming.  The dance troupe is not identified    You can see the original of this photo and photos of the autos at:

Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll

There's more than faces to be seen in this 1960 Hammer "horror" film, which contains a nice chair cancan scene as well as the other expected parts of the dance.  The dance space, in the middle of a club, is a little too confined for the best effect, but this is still a very good rendition, made better by the vivid colors.  A very nice clear bright print of this film is available through Netflix.  Also at Amazon:

By way of contrast

In contrast to yesterday's video with the black hi-cuts, here are some Russian dancers sporting white bloomers in a nice little performance filmed from a close-up vantage point.

A Cheeky Video from Romanian TV

The Rebel Cabaret presents a cancan on what I think is Romanian television that will please fans of hi-cuts and royal flashes.  The host distracts, but not enough to ruin the show.

Nadège Maruta

This is a photo of Nadège Maruta, the well known cancaneuse, choreographer, historian, lecturer and author.  Her site is a trove of excellent cancan photos, many by Patrice Bouvier.  You should pay it a visit at:

Among my favorite photos at the site is one I, not too originally, call, "worshiping at the cathedral" :

A description of her book, "Follement Cancan," with a great cover photo, can be seen at:

This new video worth watching features Valentina's Vaudeville Vixens. The video, which was original posted by UnitytheGypsyQueen, is at You Tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F7B2i02jrM

The cancan morphs into a strip routine at the end, so expect some (almost) bare breasts.

piece at the Dia de los Muertos Cabaret on Nov 3, 2012. For more info on
