The Cancan Collective I

"The Cancan Collective is a collaboration of performers who come together to bring to the stage a fusion of traditional Cancan with more modern dance styles...everyone loves the cancan...it makes you smile and is so much fun!"

These photos and this video show the collective performing in their distinctive "stripes" costumes.  High marks for the stockings.

Tomorrow:  Stripes Squared

Stars and Stripes

They may be from New Zealand, but Les Folies de L'amour's costumes are perfectly suited to celebrating America's Fourth of July.  See their site and more stars and stripes at:

Csilla  Ötvös from Hungary earns her stripes as Valencienne in this production of  The Merry Widow from 2010.  The quality shows the age of the video.

The Cancan Collective III

The Cancan Collective also performs in somewhat more conventional costumes, but still maintain their stripes motif.

Stripes! - Melodien von Jacques Offenbach 1975

This video is from 1975, and the quality is only 360p, but the performance is a very nice one.  The professionalism and style of the dancers suggests that this might be the Fernsehballett performing the cancan.  The dancers are wearing some interesting costumes - one bloomer leg up with stocking showing, and one leg down.  There is a teaser at 0:32, and the real performance starts at 10:40.

Stripes!

This photo has been around for a while, but it is a favorite, so I am posting it again.  The dancers are from The Heavenly Spies, and they perform at Seattle's Can Can.  Originally posted by Robert Wade, along with other photos of the troupe at:

Dots In the Can

Dots in the Can was a troupe from the UK that performed 2012-2014 and sported some very distinctive costumes. Sadly, they appear to have stopped performing, but it was fun while it lasted.   A showreel is presented above.  Photos are from their Facebook page.
